Unesco commends UAE literacy rate

The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) has praised the UAE for lowering rates of illiteracy to less than 1 per cent

The Unesco commended the UAE’s efforts in achieving the six ‘Education for All’ objectives approved at the Dakar 2000 conference. These objectives must be met by signatory nations by 2015.

Among the objectives are expansion and improvement of education in a comprehensive manner and early childhood care to give all children access to quality primary education.
Other objectives include ensuring that the learning needs of young people and adults are met through access to proper learning channels, acquiring necessary life skills and reducing illiteracy rates among adults.
