New academic year at HCT-Dubai colleges kicks off with 5000 students

The Higher Colleges of Technology in Dubai started the new academic year by receiving over 5,000 students to the Dubai Women's campus (DWC) in Qusais area and the Dubai Men's campus (DMC) in the Academic City .

The two colleges announced the admission of about 1,800 students to study at the Foundation level for the academic year. In addition to the colleges' specialised bachelor programmes, the number of students at Dubai Women's College increased to 2698 students, while the number of students at Dubai Men's College campus reached 2380 students.

In a speech to the new students Dr. Saoud Al-Mulla, Director of the HCT -Dubai Colleges, assured the new academic year will be full of many exciting university level developments within the colleges, as well as academic courses that focus on the composition of the students' personality as well as giving them the science and technical knowledge necessary for their practical future after graduation.

"Each academic year is considered to be a chance for launching sophisticated programmes, projects and academic services designed to develop the skills of the students, which distinguishes the Higher Colleges of Technology in the process of keeping up with progress and the world technological and the academic development. This year we seek to remain at the forefront of national academic institutions that supply the local labor market with distinctive competencies of local graduates," Dr. Al Mulla said.
Dubai Women's College and Dubai Men's College organised orientation events for new students where the heads of academic departments gave students information about available majors in the HCT ; guided them on how to choose the right specialisation, helped them understand the new academic culture; and assisted them to successfully move from the school stage to university level. The events included lectures on several issues, most notably how to cope with the new undergraduate stage, in addition to the most important principles and laws adopted by the colleges .
