Moral education to be introduced in UAE schools

Moral education will be a part of the school curricula from the 2017-2018 academic year after the Ministry of Education gave its approval on Monday.

This move was in response to an initiative announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, in July.

Textbooks will initially be introduced next January in 23 select public and private schools across the emirates as a trial. The feedback will be crucial in the lead up to the official start.

The move aims to promote ethics, values of tolerance, respect and national loyalty, in addition to raising awareness about culture and heritage.
