Health checkups during Ramadan lectures

DUBAI: Dubai’s Ramadan Forum has organised free medical check-ups for children, medical tests, and health awareness programmes for the public with Ramadan lectures that will run from the night of July 3-14 at Dubai’s World Trade Centre.

The health programmes will be manned by the Dubai Municipality’s Department of Health Education (DHE), the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and more than a dozen private medical companies and hospitals including Al Zahra, Barjeel, Saudi-German, Prime Medical Centre, Kaya Centre, among others.

“The children’s tent will feature new medical tests and check-ups alongside providing targeted educational and recreational programmes and activities to keep the children occupied while the parents benefit from the uplifting and motivational lectures held in Zabeel Hall,” said Hamad Bin Mejren, a senior official from the organising body, Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).

DTCM are the organisers of the Ramadan Forum events, which are in their thirteenth edition. It is supported by several companies and institutions from Dubai.

“The Forum will offer a health education campaign for visitors to the event in the main venue and in the workers’ Iftar tent in Al Muhaisnah and Hor Al Anz,” Hamad said.

“The aim of the campaign this year is to focus on the integration between Prophetic medicine and modern medicine by providing information and services focused on this aspect and to educate the public.”

Flanked by Dr Munir Hamad of Dubai Municipality Clinic, Hamad said this year’s agenda will also include Prayers and Taraweeh evenings to be held in Zabeel Hall followed by daily spiritual lectures that shall run in six languages: Arabic (with simultaneous translation in English), English, Urdu, Malayalam, Tagalog and Bengali.

A flurry of other activities engaging the public shall be taking place in the course of Ramadan. Among them is ‘The Convoy of Goodness’ where a number of buses will tour Dubai providing ‘The Ramadan Forum’ bag of Islamic educational material to people who are fasting as well as other citizens and residents of Dubai.

Other events are ‘Be a Preacher Zone,’ where gift-bags of educational material will be distributed to the audience that can be further presented to non-Muslims.

“The idea behind the zone is to make it easier for anyone to present gifts that offer the message of the noble religion of Islam to non-Muslim colleagues, neighbours, and friends,” said Hamad.

To make the events more attractive, the Forum has staked valuable prizes that could be won daily including the ‘Ramadan Forum Umrah’, a Samsung S5 smart phone, and an iPad Air.

“The audience can improve their chances to win these prizes by registering on the Forum website www.almultaqa.ae, via the Apple or Android apps or at the venue or connect with us on WhatsApp: 0502136555.”
