Nelly worked in Atlanta, GA as a Common Core Cadre & Trainer during the pioneering years of Common Core inception in the USA. She also worked as a Mathematics Department Chair, as an Education Consultant with a specialization in station teaching and differentiated strategies in Mathematics, and as a Gifted/Talented AP Statistics teacher. Nelly was trained by Dr. Norman Webb on DOK levels in Mathematics and by Dr. Riccomini on RtI (Response to Intervention) strategies in Mathematics. She currently works with the Emirates School Establishment in the UAE as a Mathematics LDS Lead. Nelly's PhD research is in the area of  Mathematics Curriculum and Instruction. She holds a Specialist Leadership degree, a Master's degree in Mathematics and Statistics, and a Master's degree in Mathematics Education. Her interests include PISA/TIMSS projects, formative assessment strategies, statistics and probability, data analysis, engagement strategies in a Mathematics class, curriculum research projects, and e-learning.

Mathematics Progress Monitoring & Intervention Strategies with MTSS/RtI

In this presentation, presenters talk about lessons learned from pioneering progress-monitoring tools, while focusing on one subject, Mathematics. In this process RtI (Response to Intervention) is discussed as a framework while implementing MTSS (Mutli-tier System of Support). Thus, participants will have a chance to discuss the challenges and successes of implementing Growth in national and international settings. Participants will leave will practical tools for problem-solving and resources and ideas on how to set priorities on a classroom level and school level while using RtI/MTSS.
